.46 or Electric?
Just got a SuperSports 40S
I am looking at electrical conversion because i think it would be more practical (and more legal) to fly.
I was recommended to buy a .46 engine; what kind of electric motor/prop/battery setup would compensate?

Pretty happy with this combination in a .50 (2 stroke)/.72 (4 stroke) 3D machine -
Weighs slightly less then a .72FS engine with associated fuel tank and throttle servo etc.
Provides about 9 minutes of flying mixed 3D for about 75% of the battery capacity consumed. Very low stress.

I concur. I recently converted my Twist to electric.after flying it for years with a Thunder Tiger Pro .46. Since HK was out of stock, I got the Tacon .46 670kV. Very similar to the Turnigy G46-420, and in fact, there is a Turnigy G46-670, which will turn a bit faster than the 420. I used the Turnigy Plush 60 amp ESC and Turnigy 5S 4000 mah 30C batteries. Test flew it last weekend and am very happy with the results. I think it flies better than the glow version and is certainly less fuss and mess at the field. Strongly suggest you find a way to add a hatch to change battery packs without removing the wing. I mounted my motor ahead of the glow firewall and removed the firewall. Then the battery pack fits where the fuel tank and firewall were. CG worked out good this way because it is typically shift back a bit when changing to electric as the electric motor is lighter than the glow engine. AUW is about 8 ounces heavier with the electric setup, but could be lessened with smaller capacity battery packs. I don't have a timer so I can't tell you how long the battery packs lasted, but the flights were plenty long enough for me.

I'm currently flying a 20+ year old GP Trainer .40 converted to electric using a Turnigy G46-670kv on 4S 5000 mAh using a 12x8 Zinger I'm pulling 640 watts WOT and less than 30 amps. AUW is just over 6 lbs.
Getting 7 minutes at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and only putting in 1400 mAh on recharge. I could conceivably get 15+ minutes with my setup.
I did have to put new landing gear on it to give me an extra 2 inches ground clearance for the larger prop.
My trainer is mildly aerobatic, but has plenty of power to pull itself around the skies and fast at that.
