No more flying transmitters!

Hey guys.

In an effort to reduce the number of transmitters that are trying to soar themselves, here's a little tether strap to keep 'em grounded!

This probably took 5 to 10 mins to do. What took time was trying to get the proper length of the strap... maybe 3 mins out of the 10?

Thanks to David Forbes for the inspiration!

Soar!
Jun C.

Sorry about the pics... not sure why rcgroups rotated my pics counter clock-wise during the upload...

Same here thanks to Dave Forbes.

Seems to work better for me with only 2 fingers in the strap, much less cramped. May be my strap placement and/or length. SD10G was a bit hard to hold without the strap, my XP9303 has a much better grip (thinner too) so no strap needed there ,for me. Sort of depends on how you grip it.

Thanks Jun, I can't remember who I stole the idea from

A word of warning, once you do this to your Tx, you'll never again be able to use a Tx without it

I think Jun has already invented that and I don't mean cleats!

The first time I saw this done was with John Erickson. He used a cabinet, drawer handle and screwed it on to the case of his 9C! LOL! It worked!
I played with the idea of using padded straps or leather straps stolen from old camera bags and my wife's old handbags. It just proved that I can't sew to save my life.

My primary and backup trannies are both strapped now.

Oh, I didn't mean it that way, Dan...

You know... while I had the trannies open, I sort of looked at the stick mechanisms. Seems there could be a way to rig up a spring to keep the throttle stick in the up position. It probably could be hooked on the back of the case through a hole so you can engage or disengage it....

hmmm...

I did that exact thing in my 8FG, but used a rubber band only because I was in a hurry and didn't have a small spring. It's been working a wonder since last June. I've been meaning to go to the hardware store and pick up a small spring to replace the rubber band but just haven't remembered.
