I'm sure she'll be up and running again soon. I've got Scotch™ Craft & Fabric Fastener for the batteries and possibly the fins too....
Seems better than the picture hanging Velcro I used and is thinner as well.
Wish I'd have taken your advice earlier; though I did do an inverted shake/slam test before my maiden flight.

On another note, I discovered that my EDF nacelle had come loose (before the fatal flight) and that the main base screw wasn't holding in the fan housing at all on one side. Electrical tape (the same used for my wings) on that side and the top secured it for the flight, but it's yet another thing we should all check on our Nepys.

Really considering some way of augmenting the design for rudder thrust vectoring since I've seen how well it works on some 3D-EDFs.

Glad to hear your current setup is still in good order

That looks cool and should not add too much weight.

I have a few other projects going right now, but soon I'm going to investigate the Neppy Floats... I was concerned with how to stear it in the water and that looks like a great idea.

BUT I have another idea that is a tad RedNeck so I'm going to see if it' even a possibility before I reveal my true colors

No flying this last weekend we got a lot of much needed rain, only got about 3 inches here but some nearby ares got as high at 13 inches!

I hope the burn ban is lifted got some serious carbon emissions to take care of :-)

Hey guys,
After reading these 10 pages I know I MUST get one of these wings.
I have all 3 sizes of PopWings already.

Just wanted to let you know there's a new release at NP you may really be interested in.
It's a 23" wingspan 50mm edf listed there as the AeroSky Delta but also known as the Screamer.
Everyone that's flown one loves it and it is a floater. I have one here but still in the box.
http://www.nitroplanes.com/05a71-delta-epo-arf.html

Also, 6% discount code for NP is:
pricepickle
Hope you find this helpful!

P.S. - Just ordered my Neptune Kit!
Thanks for all the tips and info.

Still beating on mine

it was so windy this weekend no many folks flew but I Flew Neppy and had fun, on one landing wind assisted with a nose down landing and I crunched the front a bit but a little tape and CA and she was good to go, no idea how many flights I have on it many more than any other bird I have ever owned.

A few folks in the club are ordering them now as well.

I'm starting to want to upgrade, I'm still on #1 (I ordered two initially) so I may put another motor on it that I have laying around to see if we can bring up the excitement level. It's only a tad bigger but we'll see if not I'll see what I can find that wont weight so much you lose the benefits...

Still loving this critter, not much else I can say take a beating, fly's great in any weather, I have not wore out the motor yet, I'm guessing about 50-60 flights!

OK you did it I have the motor off and the one I bought is a good bit bigger and the EDF unit I bought appears to be the exact same one....

I'll take pics and upload in a day or so as I have time. I've never balanced a EDF rotor and I don't know if it's even worth it but I am going to try.

More later! - S

New motor info and pics

IFlyRC's

This is your fault

OK here we go, First this is the inexpensive EDF/Motor combo I purchased
http://www.valuehobby.com/edf-motor-...-64mm-edf.html

OLD MOTOR
25mm Diameter
13mm measuring the black area of the motor
weight 80.2G Motor EDF and wires - wires about the same length

NEW MOTOR
28mm Diameter
18mm measuring the Black area of the motor
weight 98.8G wires about the same length.

I thought this would take longer than it did so here it is.

Basically I took out the old motor, cut the extensions off the old motor and soldered on connectors to make it removable in the future. I double shrink wrapped them so they can't accidently come apart.

The EDF portion is about the same, perhaps SLIGHTLY better but worst case similar.

The fan looks pretty close, I didn't look too close but they appear exact.

The nut that holds the fan on is different, the new rotor does not spin true, I'm going to mess with it but I think it is because it is cheap.

I had to drill the holes in the EDF unit for the screws, all I did was loosely bolt up the white motor mounts and ran the tiny screw down on the new EDF unit to mark it then used a pin vise to drill the hole.

While I'm here I removed the Vert. fins and I'm painting them and I'm going to add some tape to reinforce some areas that are starting to weaken.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it back together and run a AMP draw test, visually it looks to be a better setup only air-time will tell.

I am excited though!

See Pics!

Cool! -S-
Can't wait for your results. It's been nothing but wet here for several weeks, so I've been reworking my thrust vectoring concept off an on, and am almost ready for testing.

-S-, You're welcome for the motivation.
That should be an improvement. So it's a direct bolt-in?

My kit plans so far are HK939MG servos (mounted on top).
HobbyWing or Plush 60A.
Start with 3s 40c 2200's.
I have some Compact 4s 2200's here if I feel adventurous later.

IFly -

I'm hoping it's improvement!

A few grams of extra weight shouldn't be outweighed by the power but we will see, So far it's a straight drop in other than having to put a few 1.4 MM hols in for the mount.

This is my first experience with EDF so I don't want to slam the quality of this unit but it appears to be cheesy but it's about the same as the original one so I want to run it through it's paces before I get too excited!

finishing up the re-paint and hopefully Motor mounting tonight.

Should be trying it Friday!

I like it, I need the bright colors for my ageing eyes.
