Rochobby (FMS) 1100mm WACO Yellow

An amazing looking and flying Bi-Plane known as the WACO by Rochobby (FMS) is certainly just an amazing model to own and fly.

Yesterday during a super Fall Sunday morning I met up with my Sky Bro (Gerry) and he was able to maiden his brand new WACO and here are a few in-flight pictures!

First, here is the link to the distributor:

I've been eyeing this model when I was looking for a biplane. I saw it on motionrc.com for less than the distributor's link on here. Thoughts? It looks like a little more comlicated build, but I think I can handle it. Maybe after christmas...

Thanks guys!

My buddy, Gerry (simano) still gets a big Ear-to-Ear smile when he flys it!

Two bipes make my heart skip a beat, whenever I see them. This Waco is one.

Love this plane. Gotta have one.

Well, sure enough, Santa brought me a Rochobby Waco, along with an FMS Stearman. I have built the Waco. I did have trouble with the rubber cord used to create the bracing wires. It didn't want to hold a knot and glue didn't seem to help much. The crimped tubing idea from the FMS Stearman thread is a good one, but I didn't have tubing so I went to plan B. I had a spool of very small, around 28 gauge enameled copper wire, so I used that instead and soldered the ends of the wire to hold on to the springs. That seems to work pretty well. I also put a coat of MinWax clear Semi-gloss polyurethane on the plane to protect the finish and give it a little shine. The MinWax is drying now, but I will post a picture tomorrow of the finished product. Hope for a maiden this weekend.

Sounds like a good fix! Our little trick for the rubber is to tie a tight knot then use some thin ca on it and spray the kicker or accelerant on it. They always have held fine for us using that method. I really like both the Waco and the Stearman. I prefer the batt access on the Stearman though, however both planes can fit 1800 and 2200 lipos.
