Multiplex Funman

I just ran into this :

It really looks like a Minimag with new stickers and bigger wheels.

Nice find.
It comes with motor, ESC and 2 servos already mounted.

Should be available by mid february.

I'd get it in a heartbeat if I didn't already have a funcub.

demo video; seems like less dihedral...

Funman web en (2 min 35 sec)

you can NOT get it as a bare kit, but I saw the wing listed (but not yet available) as a spare, so the Minimag could be updated:

most important difference seems to be less dihedral - that's what I didn't like about the Minimag, it had excessive dihedral and was a pig to fly on ailerons (they had to be used to cross-steer, i.e. act against the banking in the turns) since they designed it to be very agile on rudder only. The tail would be sagging in ugly fashion if you didn't use rudder in the turns...

now it must be a much more aerobatic and balanced model which is shown in the video (of course you should still fly co-ordinated turn using both ailerons and rudder)

Apart from the different decor, I don't see a difference in dihedral.

Should be the same anyway, because the stock FUNMAN is also controlled via rudder and elevator.

thanks Juergen, you are right! Even though the part was listed as "Funman Wing" I checked and - the Minimag wing has the same part number...

so it was wishful thinking (and drawing an unwarranted parallel to the Funcub which did away with the dihedral of the Easycub), plus the aerobatics in the demo video

will have to do that myself then, as others have done - I would prefer only half the stock dihedral...

Multiplex really went out on a limb with this offering!

I will say that the Minimag is a superlative flyer. I have a 28mm 1200kv outrunner in mine and it's fast, will hang on the prop all day long and will fly for a surprisingly long time on a 1300 3s. It's good to know the model is getting a reissue.

What the heck is up with the windshield sticker?!?

This will be a well loved addition to many peoples hangars. I love my my minimag brushless on floats and this should be a worthy successor.

For those who don't like the new decor, the MiniMag is still available (Kit plus = kit plus brushless motor, ESC, battery, servo extensions and four Nano-S):

La déco est moins bien et visible par rapport au Minimag!! Le bleu n'est pas le meilleur exemple pour une bonne visibilité en vol!

FYI...I just noticed Tower Hobbies changed the stock status on this from "on order" to "mid July". At least we've got a date now! Okay, a somewhat firm, but not really, date-ish.

This is the thread on the Funman.

The radio is four channel because you have the option of adding ailerons.
I think the linkage is with the kit. You just add your servos. I have not looked
at mine that close yet. Mine will be three channel.
