Nightrc.com rgb led strip controller
As if night flying is not cool enough here comes a new product from NIGHTRC.COM to really make it great. Night RC has come up with a great new controller for RGB light strips. This light weight unit comes programmed with 50 different light behaviors and has adjustable speed settings. What makes this controller unique is that you can choose 3 different lighting effects and cycle thru those three settings while flying using a 3 position switch on your transmitter. If you only have a 2 position switch then you will still be able to use it but you will only have 2 settings. The controller has 4 pins on each side that can be directly soldered to the led strips for the left and right side of the plane.
Power is best delivered by a 3 cell battery pack and the unit comes with a JST connector. I use the same battery that powers my motor to keep the weight down but a separate battery can be used.
Programming is easy and is done with a small jumper that is placed on the programming pins. When you place the jumper on the pins the unit cycles thru the 50 lighting effects and the jumper is pulled when you get to the one you want. Then move your switch on your radio and do the same thing to program the other poles of the switch. The speed of the lights changing color and flashing can be changed by placing the jumper on the programming pins and pulling it quickly when the lights first flash. Then the lights will start flashing red-green-blue at this point place the jumper back on and it will cycle thru the different speeds. Then pull the jumper when it is at the speed you want.
I will be testing this on a flying wing that is made out of epp foam. The lighting can be faced out or into the foam and has an adhesive on one side. I like to shine into the foam so the light will be seen on both sides.
The controller is nice and compact.
Easy to program
Looks great and will bring on some UFO sightings!
Not so much a negative but the jumper is small and must be kept in a safe place so
it does not get lost.
I highly recommend this product for night flyers who want to bring night flying to the next level.

I was really looking forward to using Robin's light control board. But after I purchased the board and remote from him I didn't receive any communication about my order or the product.
I texted him a few times (his preferred method of communication) and finally disputed the Paypal transaction after I was hung-up on without so much as hello.
I made my purchase June 16, 2012 and finally got my money back (from Paypal not Robin) July 16th, 2012.
I have the Paypal records to prove it, if I must.
You will be better served getting lights and controllers from some where else.
Currently I am testing a controler from RC-Lights (model 5056) and a few from HK

DONT BUY FROM THIS GUY.Ordered 2 light controllers. They took 2 months to arrive. One was faulty. Asked how to return it numerous times, heard nothing. I shipped the faulty unit back,at my expense, with a covering letter,on 10th April. The item was reported delivered in the USA on 17th April. It is now 15 of August and I have heard nothing, despite many emails (which he doesn't answer).
I thought I would give him plenty of time to respond, since I read that he is away from home for long periods. But, because of my waiting for a response, the 45 day time limit for claiming my money back via Paypal has passed.
I would love to make a complaint to the Utah Consumer Protection Agency but being in the UK makes that difficult.
A good product let down by someone who doesn't give a toss about his customers.

I totally agree with the above. DO NOT ORDER. Unless you enjoy throwing away money. Ordered a controller for my SuperCub- it never worked. I went as far as to test it myself and determined that power was not getting through the processor to the terminals. I never heard from him despite several calls, texts, and emails. Ordered a second controller to replace the faulty one I had- never received it. This was over a year ago. Again, several texts and emails to check on order status. Paypal needs to terminate him.
