I heard lead shot was outlawed for hunting-maybe only Cali.
Shooting, hunting supply?
Big thread here

Lead shot should be available from any shooting supply outlet. It is still used for shooting clay targets. BB's could also be used but I'm guessing may be more expensive.

You won't get lead or steel shot in 1 lb bags either. It'll be in 20 or 25 lb bags. So find a few buddies and go together on a bag so you end up with something like 5 lbs each. That'll do you for years to come.

So after you get the shot, what do you put it in?

Thanks,

heavy duty zip lock bags, or, I've seen some smallish cotton bags also, but can't tell you where. The tops could be sewn shut for a very neat solution. The ones I'm thinking of had a draw string closure. No good for shot but great for small parts.

The Vacuum Seal type of food storage bags would work very well; just seal them without putting the vacuum on them.

1 pound shot bags

If there is a local dive shop, I have 1,3,5, 6 pound ballast pouches for my boyancy compensator and carry a couple of others for students/partners. You could buy 1 or two without having a ton of shot laying around and they're usually just a couple of bucks per pound pouch. Cheers
I know, Edwards is out there but I learned to dive in Pheonix while stationed at Luke

I got the cloth sacks from friends who reload. An appropriate sized zip-lock bag full of playground sand was placed inside. The cloth bag was then re-sewn closed. They have served me well for years.

FWIW,
Roofing companies and home depot/lowes sell lead vents for the roof. They are thin and easily cut with a scissors into strips. Cost, $5/lb.
