Im sorry, I know this probably isn't the right place to ask this but I have tried Sears with no replies. I have a Craftsman 16" scroll Saw. Is the some trick or do I need an additional adapter to install the plain end Sprial blades. These blades have a slight twist at each end and when I try to install them they either bend out of shape or slip off the set screw.

its not the T pin type ends on the saw itself?

No. The saw itself accepts both pinned and plain end blades. the problem I think is 1) the slight twist in the blade itself and 2) the blades arent as wide as a plain end blade.

That is tricky. The rod blades kinda work OK in mind but you have to catch it just right - I have the thumbscrew type clamp where it is a knob molded on to a fairly wide bolt. A set screw would be tougher. Maybe grind the end of the setscrew flatter? Or cut a 1/4" square piece of K&S brass shim stock to fit between the blade and the setscrew.

Nah, that's not out of place at all.
...but I was hoping it would be something like the question a guy sent into Hot Rod magazine, asking if he could mount a Hoover on top of his carb, for a blower.
