Rick,
A fan favorite is the parkzone bf-109 wheels. Easy to get and install, and they work well.

Hobby Town should have them. Right down the road. My school field just doesn't have the space yet. I have to turn early and there are some trees and a fence. In a few week maybe....

I just assumed my Extra would be a trash bag full of EPP chunks before I ran a full charge through the battery... Things are looking better.

The jump from 3 and 4 channel .45 glow trainers to the Extra probably should have had a sport ship in there somewhere... considering I took a 12 year break from flying.

yup bf109 3" wheels are real good

or these 3" wheels
http://brodak.com/dave-brown-lite-flite-wheels-3.html

I have the dave brown wheels and the 11x5.5 APC prop on my 41" 3dhs edge.

speaking of which--if you want to have a suggestion for which plane next
that 3dhs balsa 90% built plane is awesome---sells out in 2 weeks whenever they get a new shipment. plane is $109 and with electronics is $200-300 total.

When I removed he wings I noted the plates you attach the wings to were both loose. I used G Gkue and set ir in place using the wing as a template. Another advantage of slow cure glue. I then added a strip of bass wood with G Glue. Solid as a rock. The APC 11x5.5 looks really good and aggressive.

Loaded up the gear with G Glue and that sucker has zero play too. See how it goes in the AM. Getting tired of the retracts.

Tomorrow the wheels!

How did it go? GG and wheel's ended the issues with my plane. After watching my last landing the wife walked off uttering something about having married a, "Stick-tard" whatever that is.

I flopped it in! Bad crash but not any major repairs. Too much wind and not good enough yet. I think I "reset" the aileron servos. They funstion but center 30 degrees forward. Is that something I can reset or is it another two pieces to buy?

Rick I'm just getting back into the hobby but I'm betting all you need to do is loosen the servo arms and put them back to normal.

On the landings... you gotta fly this little guy in on power and chop it as you flair. I burned two packs tonight just shootin' approaches over a sod farm. 1/4 throttle till it was 12" over the grass then chop the power and hold it off until it settled gave the best results. Actually had a couple of Viagra moments doing this. These guys know what they are talking about !

Hey... Dudes. What kind of run time are you gettin' on 2200mAh 25c/35c ? I had a deadstick tonight and don't want another.

AJay - " Stick-tard " and proud.

flight time with stock motor and 11x6 master airscrew prop

for me with 2200 25 or 30c batts I get 7:30 (have 30% juice left with final landing).
I don' t fly WOT much though.

What could be with the apparent differences in landing ease from one of these things to the other. That was what I worried about most after buying mine last year. I am just past beginner stage and was afraid to fly it for a month or more. But when I did I found it to be a pussy cat to land. It just flies right down to the ground and doesn't even bump when it touches down. One time I did inadvertently give it a bit of up elev just before touching down and it plopped a bit hard on the gear, but nothing broke. I did take the gear skirts and wheel pants off and put fe109 wheels on before even trying it though and have the battery all the way forward with the strap behind the battery. I use the 11x7 prop and 2200 trunigy batteries. The thing I found the most touchy was the elevator, it takes so little movement to make it aerobatic that it's hard to believe. I just kept dialing down the elev throw until I could throw full up at full speed without it bailing over on its side and just do a square corner and go straight up. After that point, it has been trouble free ever since.

Okay Coolio there Tim, I was at like 16 minutes and just having a good ol' time when I lost motor. Going to set an eight minute timer in the morning... if I go long it's on me and I'll stop screaming horrible things about you if I get another deadstick.

AJay - no, I'm not "all right" so stop asking... Officer.

EDIT: Both packs had to rebalance on the charger... did I dip a little low or is this normal?

You are smarter than I...I just jumped back in after not flying for 12 years and used the "recommended throws." Oh, yeah, all I ever flew before was high wing trainers and gliders. Twelve years is a long time man... long time.

I'm fairly certain that full throttle and full yank on the up-stick would either open a worm hole or cause the thing to vaporize. I planning on giving it a shot Sunday after church.

I recommened to balance charge every other charge--that's conservative approach. Personally I balance charge every time.

if you flew 16mins to LVC--then your batts took extra strain for sure and chances of being out of balance is higher. 16mins is amazing.

going below 20% juice is not advised. 30%+ for maximum life.

Also, storing lipos at about 50% and not 100% or 20%--yes even for a few days.

I haven't flown my 300 in quite a while, but I recall getting 10-12 minute flights regularly on the stock electronics/prop with a 3s 2200mah batt and mixed flying.

Yeah, I was just shooting approaches. 1/2 throttle on go-around for about five seconds and then back to 1/4 for the rest of the pattern.

I set a seven minute timer this morning, flew one more approach and then landed. Didn't check voltage but no noticable loss of thrust.

AJay - where's my dang volt meter?
