What to use for laying out fuselage skins?
I would like to create a flat pattern for cutting out thin skins for my fuselage. I have 2 formers that are elliptical in shape put each having different major and minor axes. Connecting the 2 formers are a number of longerons, along which the skin panels are cut.
I would like, naturally enough, as inexpensive as possible. I can create .dwg and /or .dxf files but only in @D. I don't currently have any 3D programs. Would prefer Linux compatible, but I do run XP in a VM so that's also doable.
Lastly, I could lay all this out by hand with light cardboard and then pdf it into my computer.

I ended up using Sketchup, and the Flattery plugin. Was a little bit of a pain to get to work, but is free.
