Isn't spring time great!? New Horizon Hobby Sukhoi SU-26M 480 ARF

How about a plane marketed as an "aerial hot rod!?"

This appeared on Horizonhobby this morning. Another tasty new offering for the 2009 flying season!

Sukhoi SU-26M 480 ARF

Key Features

  • Designed around E-flite’s potent Park 480 BL outrunner motor
  • Lightweight balsa/plywood construction
  • Vibrant UltraCote® trim scheme
  • Large, magnetically secured canopy hatch
  • Lightweight, factory-painted fiberglass cowl
  • Factory-painted aluminum landing gear
  • Plug-in wings
  • Optional pilot figure sold separately
Overview

In the world of competition aerobatic airplanes, the Russian Sukhoi SU-26m is the equivalent of a top fuel dragster that can turn on a dime. Its combination of absurd amounts of horsepower, light weight, rugged construction, and amazing agility allows aggressive pilots to perform to the limits of their physical endurance.

The E-flite Sukhoi SU-26m is a scaled-down version of the Hangar 9 Sukhoi SU-26MM designed by world-class IMAC competitor Mike McConville. The E-flite SU-26m features an exceptionally lightweight airframe that was designed around the powerful Park 480 BL outrunner motor (sold separately). As with the full-scale Sukhoi, this combination of lightweight construction and prodigious power gives the E-flite SU-26m unlimited performance that is ideally suited for 3D aerobatics.

Good looking plane, but I wish they would have made it the size of the Eratix.

We needed ground clearance when we used the 470 in the Mini Pulse, so instead of the APC 12/6E, we ran an APC 11/7E, and those worked fine.
