Bear with me for while I try to link some facts.
This info will affect you when you move on to other Heli's or quads.
Steve your info rang a bell. I have the 9x family of xmtrs along with
other turnigy xmtrs that just came on the market.
I, like others, have been flying the 9116 the V911 and other quads all with the same transmitter.
A Turnigy FS-T6. Now what I am leading up to is that there is a big change comming to the Heli and transmitter market. These transmitters of the Turnigy family, it seems, will no longer support the new Heli's and quads that are comming. The discussion on other threads seem to say there is a lot going on and not being told to the user.
So what I am leading up to is this: when you decide to move on be ready to not only buy a heli but a new xmtr. As parts for the older Helis go away so will their support.
This is what I have gotten out of many discussions. I welcome your comments. This is only going to grow.

Steve, I think you have some electronic knowledge - I would need some help:

I would like to hook some other LEDs to a heli (4V voltage)- but they have to be controlled by the signal of another LED (status SMD LED of PCB) - like in pic 1b. I thought of simply connecting Ue to the anode of the status-LED and Ub to anode of battery and earth to negative.
would that work?

That's exactly what I intend to do - just look at the diagram I attached to the previous post - Fig. 1b

Too big, too heavy - it's for a sub micro quad - the X4 - so weight counts more than usual.

The LED on the PCB stays lit once it's running anyways. And there would be no risk of throwing the radio circuitry out of spec.

I do want to drive them direct from batt - using the right resistors.
The X4 has two blue status LEDs - mounted as eyes - that not only stay lit while bound but also start to blink alternating when voltage drops down for example and can signal some other circumstances. These eyes are too small and weak to recognise them flying more than 5m away or not facing to you.
I'd like to connect this signal to my navlights, which draw 160mA together, so a direct hookup to these tiny status SMDs is really too much.

As far as the flybar goes, I want to grind down the top and bottom so it is thinner.
Chopping off the ends sometimes involves extra work if you hit the bar itself.
I read of one guy having to solder the remaining weights in place.
Never thought of using balance paddles. Make sure you share your success or failure,
so if it does not work, it might save somebody some time and money.

EDIT:

I just realized your canopy is up tight against the rotor. The motor won't get much cooling like that,
and it already runs hot enough. I made some mounting holes farther back on the canopy so it sits
farther forward. Not trying to criticize, I just don't want you to burn up your bird.

Hi Steve just had a second look at your pic of the canopy and know see what you mean about moving the holes back along the canopy for good ventalation , thanks for the insight it will save wear an tear on the motor . so it sounds like the syma tail motor might be a good upgrade , is it a straight plug in or does it need to be resoldered to the motor ??? will be seriously considering this upgrade while at work tonite
