Looks really neat.... could you please enlighten me ? what is WBPU ? does this stand for Water Based Poly Urethane by any chance? Would floor varnish do the trick ? ( you can get a water based polyurethane floor varnish in hardware stores.)

Yep. WBPU is just that. I've had good luck with Minwax from local home center.
I also mix it 50/50 with baby powder. brush it on and sand lightly when fully dry. This done a few times will give a beautiful and glossy surface. Here's a pic of one I did a while ago. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=369 |

If I was to cover it I would use Riteweave with 3M 77 spray adhesive, I have used the weave a couple of times and made the wings virtually indestructible, if you did it this way make sure to use the 77 spray and not the 90 spray as recommended by Chris at Ritewing or you will have a nice pile of messy melted foam on the table

A new version of the skywalker is now in stock! It's made of EPO foam much stronger than the first version EPS foam.

Guru,
The supplied glue will eat the foam. I posted that warning earlier. DON'T use it!! RC Monster, I pulled the stockings over the wing and stretched them until tight then pinned them in place. I then applied a light coat of Ronseal ECO varnish which is a water based polyuretane (make sure you use water based). I left it over night to dry. This adheres the stockings to the foam. I then applied two coats of lightweight polyfilla. Which is the UK variety of spakle. Make sure to get the lightweight one. You'll know when you pick it up as it feels empty. Both were purchased in woodies. Minwax is not available in UK or Ireland. Regards Fergus. |

So...
Is the consensus from the folks that have actually purchased and flown this plane as to if the plane is a good flyer and good quality? I'm trying to determine if it's worth it for me to track down the manufacturer. I haven't seen enough information to justify that just yet. EPO is a plus, but I think a lot of folks are tired of having to reinforce and/or modify planes to get them to perform well. I'd like to hear some real results from consumers! Tim |
