Witespy RTFhawk 2.4.3 for APM

The Witespy RTFhawk 2.4.3 is an advanced autopilot system designed by the PX4 open-hardware project. It features advanced processor and sensor technology from ST Microelectronics« and a NuttX real-time operating system, delivering incredible performance, flexibility, and reliability for controlling any autonomous vehicle.

The benefits of the RTFhawk system include integrated multithreading, a Unix/Linux-like programming environment, completely new autopilot functions such as Lua scripting of missions and flight behavior, and a custom PX4 driver layer ensuring tight timing across all processes. These advanced capabilities ensure that there are no limitations to your autonomous vehicle. RTFhawk allows existing APM and PX4 operators to seamlessly transition to this system and lowers the barriers to entry for new users to participate in the exciting world of autonomous vehicles.

RTFhawk includes:
  • RTFhawk 2.4.3 autopilot in a case pre-solder, cleaned, and tested
  • Buzzer
  • Safety switch button
  • Extra 6-position cable to connect a GPS+Compass module
  • SD card and USB adapter
  • 3-wire servo cable
  • Hard Plastic Case

Notes:
Arming the RTFhawk:
  • Press the safety switch
  • Listen for the "ok to arm" tone
  • Throttle down and right rudder for 5 seconds
  • The main light starts flashing blue and red
  • In a second your props will start to spin

My GPS/Compass module and Spektrum satellite receiver connections were literally plug-n-play after first binding it with a receiver.

Been wanting a version of that board for a while now.

Though weird how the price is changing on it every time I look at that site.

indoorheli,

LOL! I noticed that too. Maybe we should wait to see if goes down again.

It looks like Paul changed the RTFpower module with XT60 connectors as an option and added the case.

bjornthans,

Yes, the case and cables are included. I'll correct my first post...thanks.

Nice!

I haven't done a comparison yet. I'm wondering if it compares to the Pixhawk or is more similar the PX4. Either way it should work just fine :-) I want one!

indoorheli,

Although I was just kidding, the price dropped this morning to $99.

strips,

It should be the same artwork and parts as the Pixhawk. It is an open-source design.

jeey,

Hopefully, it's the same as the Pixhawk. I'll know more later this week when it arrives.

It looks like he moved the RTFpower module with XT60 connectors and 6-position connector cable back to an option so I updated the post above. He probably realized that many folks either already have one or don't use it so why make them pay for it.

Try calling him in the evening after 6:00.

titeuf007,

Let me guess, you paid $200 for yours?

I don't know what the differences are between version 2.4 and others.

We haven't received our RTFhawks so it is difficult to answer your questions. On the Multiwii boards, MEGA Pro series, Flips, etc, I have not seen quality issues. On the ReadyToFlyer 2.52, I have not seen any issues. Below is a test flight of my hexaHAL using the ReadyToFlyer 2.5.2 with APM 3.1.
