From the past!

1981 Cox Eagle. One channel, rubber launched.

Yard sale find. New, someone tried to put the stickers on it.
Radio works fine. Goes left, goes right.
All the rubber bands were trash, the launch rubber seems fine.

Yep! It is a brick unit! The whole front of the plane.

It seems heavy, will get a weight on it. The ballast is
a big chunk of steel.

I'm back!! Right at 400g.

On the one hand, it's hard to imagine not getting bored with a 1 channel glider...but at the same time, it does offer some beautiful simplicity! Much of the "flying" will take place in the pre-flight; trimming the elevator/angle of attack (or whatever is adjustable here. ) , and setting the CG. Assuming you can get some altitude with it, you can really sit back and enjoy watching the plane fly...as you just guide it and keep it from flyng away.

What are your plans for it?

If it was my model, I'd try to keep it looking as original as possible but I'd swap out the radio so I could add an elevator servo and a tow release...It would be hard to resist the temptation to substitute a small motor, folding prop and battery for that chunk of steel.

Wait... how do you sell a plane and still get to fly it? That sounds like a sweet deal.

Well done.

Keep us posted on the flight. RC planes typically have extremely short expiration dates. When you see a plane that's 30+ years old, it's a pretty rare and cool thing. Pics are welcome.

So...how are you going to launch it?
