Wow...that's a nice little plane, especially for the price.
Any chance you could post a few pictures of the engine mount?
Cheers Mike
PS...Is that the same topmodel that make the stinger? I have one of those and I am pretty happy with it.

Well the plane goes together nice You have to put all the weight forward to get it to cg right. The speedcontrol is mounted on the side of the motor mount and the battery sits vertical behind the firewall a The planes weighs around 26oz but when its flying feels less then that I posted some pics and pm me with any other questions

Thanks for the pictures twiz.
That looks really tempting. It would be nice to add a smaller warbird that isn't foam.
Cheers Mike

CG Problem

Hy from Bavaria,

i own the same modell. It needs a lot of additional weight in the front - to meet the CG point!! Total weight with 2200 lipo is 950 grain. Is this to much?

What is your CG point?

regards

bigbuck

Nice looking plane. It's on my xmas list. What are the light blue strips under the wing and does it have a fiberglass cowl?

Hi all

A Bearcat is a dream! I saw one flying at an Air Show in Duxford a while back. The owner, Stephen Gray, pushed it to the limit. I swear the guy was vertical more often than horizontal. The spectators were cheering and crying all at the same time. I once read that a Bearcat could out manuver any of the early jets, Sabre, Shooting Star, Mig-15, Panther, etc...I guess this model is really fun to fly, especially with a high grade motor.

cheers
Uwe

This is a very nice looking F8F Bearcat Model. Kind of reminds me of the one Howard Pardue flies in Reno. If HobbyCity gets them in again I might pick one up.

For anyone who owns one, I don't suppose they've built wheel wells into the wing for retracts, have they?

Super looking model and yes for the price you can not build one this nice.

It reminds me of the Jim Ryan Kits of the F8F Bearcat Speed 400 and was featured as a construction project in the January, 1999 issue of Model Airplane News.

A buddy of mine, Earl, built one and it was a very fast model at the smaller 30 inch wing span and it came in for belly landing only.

Earl's Build Project back in 2003!

Yes, with improved Brushless and Li-POLY technology this model is certainly going to zoom with zest appeal.

Droptank The stripes on the bottom was just tape holding the belly cover on while the glue dried and the cowl is plastic so you might want to fiberglass it

Thanks for the info. If Hobby City gets another shipment of these I'll likely buy one, a set of their micro retracts and see if I can modify the wing to take them. Shouldn't be too much work...

Flying at a club field with a huge paved runway has spoiled me - my hand launching skills don't get used a whole bunch anymore
