Adafruit's Digital Addressable RGB LED - UFO Quad video added

I've been experimenting with Adafruit's Digital Addressable RGB LED strips for a UFO quad build and have it down now where I can run them off a 2s 800mah lipo. Getting a consistent 5 volt's to the Arduino is the key and a simple UBEC achieves this. I'm still messing around with the sketch (sequencing) and am also waiting on more strips to fill out the quad. Should have it in the air early next week.

Maiden flight of the UFO Quad. It transitions from dusk to dark at around the 38 second mark.

Let me know when you're ready for these GG. I can save you a lot of headaches and $'s as I've figured out how to power two strips off a UBEC and a small 3s battery.

Here's where you can download the code:

https://github.com/adafruit/LPD8806

Just tweak the sequences and timing...

I have some experience using the same LPD8806 addressable strips, both from an Arduino and streaming raw pixel data from Processing. For prototyping I was thinking of using a series of RGB strands and simply hacking up some keycaps to get them squished on a board somehow.

That is just too cool! I've been working on something similar, but the old fashioned way with a 555 timer & a 4017 sequencer. Nowhere near as elaborate a pattern of course, but a lot cheaper!

Is it easy to do?
I'd love to either have a go. Or just buy one already setup

It's really easy if you have Arduino Sketch experience.

Here's a thread I started over at Adafruit. http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=24353 There, you'll find my wiring diagram using a UBEC.
