Adding transistor to Tx

So I have an esky tx that I like to use on the sim as it only takes 4 aa but its designed to work on 6v and when I use rechearables the light only goes up to the last green light(before it goes yellow then red) so it only lasts for about an hour. Would adding a transistor be the solution to the lower voltage?

If used only for sim, a 6V DC adapter would replace the 4 Alkaline just fine, just mind the polarity!

A good way to modify your radio to make it rechargeable might be to adapt it to a 5-cell AAA flat pack. A pack like that ought to fit where the four AA cells normally go, and all you'd have to do is hook it up.

CheapBatteryPacks.com could make an 800 mAH pack for you. Just go to this page and select
  • Cell count: 5
  • Flat Pack
  • CPB800AAA cell
  • 22 AWG wire
  • No Plug
and it should quote you a price of $13.50.
