News Flash. Yesterday this Mosquito took to the air for the first time in many years.In the weekend there will be an airshow to celebrate with other old ww2 warbirds I intend to be there with my family included my 97 year old father in law who worked on them in ww2 .

Well what a day my father inlaw(ex Corporal Turner) ended up with the v i ps and we have just spotted him on TV3 News. As for the Mosquito itself its pure magic and the sound of twin merlins i'm still buzzing, This is the only flying Mosquito in the world.

Beautifull airplane, if I remember well a Belgian friend of mine that I used to fly with called Wim Reynders became world champion in RC scale model airplanes with a Wooden Wonder as they nicknamed these aircarft. Did'nt know this is the only one flying. Nice picture of your father in law with the great Tim Wallis, this reminds me of another WW2 hero I did shake hands with personally namely Douglas Bader, in Cornwall England that was. I can still here the 'click' of his legs when he walked about. That Mossie is a great achievement. Well done you New Zealand lads ! I do live close to the original Zeeland border.

I heard that the Mossie had the same bomb load as a B-17, but didn't need any of the armament. It makes you wonder why they didn't build more of them.

I think the reality was it could carry a greater bombload to Berlin than a B17; the Fortress needed a hell of lot more fuel to go that distance (a bit like all American vehicles) than the Mossie - at the expense of the weight of the bomb load.
