Yeah I just saw that, looks pretty good. I'm considering it.

love it is ep ready. It says to use a power 110, but with it at 18 lbs I would think a power 160 10S with 18 x 10 prop would be what you want.

Yeah I was thinking the 110 would be a little small as well. I was actually thinking about going gas but I only have electrics so maybe I should stick with what I know. I think something with smoke would be cool though.

I have a converted p-51D 1.50 and use the power 160, workes great and it is 18 lbs.

I fly the H9 1/4 scale J3 Cub with the E-Flite 110 on 9 cells.

It takes off easily at 30% to 40% throttle, and can cruise nicely at less.

It does not need more power.



(My 160-size H9 Thunderbolt flies better on 12S and a 160 Brushless)

what is the weight for you p-47? I know it has more wing area then the mustang so I am assuming it can handle more weight. My mustang feels heavy at 18+ lbs and nevers about going to 12S.

It is not about the weight...it is about the wing area and wing loading.

A large J-3 simply does not need as much power to fly convincingly as (roughly) the same size P-51.

PS: You ought to fix the title of your thread...you left out the part about it being a PA-18 Super Cub.

Both are about 17 pounds.

The Thunderbolt feels more secure with the extra power in case I'm flying too slowly in a turn, and want to pull out from what might be the beginning of a stall.

The Cub has way more wing area, and can fly very slowly.

After several years, I'm still nervous flying the Thunderbolt, but I'm so comfortable and confident with the big Cub, that I have flown it in various skill-testing competitions.

I think I may try my p-51 with turnigy nano 25C+ 4500 6S x 2 it looks like it is only slightly heavier then what I have now. Also thinking 18 x 10 prop. Back to the cub I think its in a 2 year budget plan for me.

I'm thinking a Power 160, 10S, 5000mAh 25C packs, Castle Creations ICE v2 HV 120 ESC, and a 19x10E prop would work well. The 160 would be nice for adding floats. This setup is based off of a similar setup for a H9 1/4 Cub on floats (see you tube video below). Any comments or other setups?

Are you doing the advanced editing, or doing the quick edit ? If you hit go advanced after clicking on edit, it will allow editing of the title.
