I need a cheap way to get more power. I'm not sure if I want brushless because of haveing to get 2 speed controls. Is there a way to get some bigger motors in the stock ips fans? Or should I just rip them off buy some cowlings and put some johnson 250's in it?

depends what edf-50s you have. You can always upgrade to the 5 blade units or go for the uprated motors that will handle more cells(read 3 cell lipo)

It is odd for people asking for more power for BN2 Jet. The stock motors are already overpowering the little jet. If you feel under power check the following items first:
(1) Is your battery powerful enough? On full throttle you should get 8~9 Amp.
(2) Is your ESC good enough? It needs to handle 8~10 Amp continuous.
(3) Is your electrical connectors good? The stock GWS/BEC/JST red connector is only good for a few Amps. At the 8~10Amp level for the stock motor to develop full power, the small connectors simply robs away a lot of power and turns them into heat that often melt the connector.

Really, many cases it is NOT the motor, it is small components in your power system that is underperforming.

Moving to 5 blade using the same motor only give you 1~2 gram more thrust but almost 2 Amps increase in current, not good.

Moving to the BH high voltage motor and 5 blade is a way to reduce Amp draw, but power is the same or slightly less.

Hum, well my I'm not new to this. All of my stuff it far beyond what this calls for. The 280 prop version was way faster.
