Cant decide on first float plane

In the last two days i've lost two planes. First off was a gws spitfire from being underpowered it only lasted 3 short flights, and 2nd was a parkzone j3 cub due to tx/rx interfearance. In the 3 years I've flown i've never totaled a plane so right now i'm sorta bummed. But at least i've been bit with the seaplane bug right? So my thing is I need a plane that builds quick or ARF that would be a great 3 channel seaplane. It has to be electric also. I do have a hobbico superstar EP that hasn't been flown yet, no charger, LHS says it's on back order. Anyhow should I set this up as a float plane or go for a completely different plane? I was thinking if I went new to get a gws beaver or a herr j3 cub. Any idea which is the best route? I'm also looking to keep cost down a bit like under $100 for the plane/motor combo.

Ok how does this setup sound. It's all from tower. Gws beaver with 350c, gp electrifly c-10 esc, gp electrifly peak charger, Gws 7.2v 600 mah nicd and gws floats. for a little over $100 not including servos. Would that have enough power to pull off the water within say 50 ft?

With the 350c it should have no problem getting out of the water. I am assuming it is a DS gearbox. Some have had gripes about the weight or water tightness of the gws floats. A good alternative if you have a couple extra hours can be found in jimsp's thread. Good luck.
