I have the 64mm Version of the Hobby King T-45, and am using this EDF unit.

http://www.epf.com.tw/goods.php?id=125

I will be running a Nanotech 5s 2700mah 65c, with a ZTW 100Amp ESC, the kit is almost finished and i have put the EDF thru some bench tests getting around 1500g thrust
Does anyone out there have a setup like mine and what kind of performance will i be getting. i was going to use 4s because i have plenty of 4s lipos in my hanger, but then i saw that this fan unit was able to use 5s, so here i am waiting for HobbyKing to deliver the Lipo and a Canopy latch, and some odds and ends
any response thanked

I assume the 1500gr thrust is UN-installed EDF unit before fitting to airframe ?

I would think that one factor you might encounter is air feed .. some who have pushed these models and others similar to really high numbers encounter starvation of air to the fan ...

My fingers crossed that you don't.

I used that setup and on 5s she had unlimited vertical.

I'm planning another kit with 6s.

Actually it is a Global Fly model. SAPAC was the American distributor/rep.

There are just a few companies doing the moulding and injection of eps or EPO airframes on order.
The brand owner just have to order a minimum 500 pieces and then paint and add the electronics of choice.

Unlimited vertical is perfectly possible on 4S ... the difficulty comes when people start mucking about with blade numbers to achieve the 'whooosh' sound ...

Stick with stock fan and a good 4S and a reasonable 4300 or more kv motor and she will punch holes in the clouds. My T45 similar weight, but slightly smaller span has 4300 + 5 blader + 4S 2700 and she will go out of sight vertical.

Here when she was just being set-up ....

T45 64mm 4S 2700 21-09-12 (5 min 38 sec)

Text says 0.9 - 1 T/W ratio and 120 - 130kph ... in fact when I altered CoG .. removed a few bits in tail pipe ... she recorded 1.1 to 1 T/W ratio and speed average of 140kph. I accept this is not the 'SAPAC / HK' T45 .. but she carries the same weight and drag penalties. In fact where the model is a tny bit smaller - the intakes and ducting is likely slightly restricted compared to SAPAC / HK version.

If she doesn't go vertical - then somethings wrong.

I don't know the stock setup since I bought the kit.

I tried the 4s setup with a one of the Freewing's Su-34 fans and it was not good enough.
With the Mercury on 5s it was far better.
