My latest AH Thermic 2,5 videos.

Beach fun flying.
Thermic at the beach. (1 min 58 sec)

2x Thermic and a Sky 1,7 sloping from the pier.
Pier sloping (1 min 19 sec)

After the pier flying we went to the RC Club and did som towing after the Funcub, in great thermal conditions.
Longest flight was 42 min.

And a Club member just got a second hand Thermic With flaps as mine.

So now we got
4 Thermic.
2 Odyssey
1 Boar
1 Sky
1 Castor
1 Tigra
1 ?
In my RC Club

+ a Evolution was lost in a cumulus and not found again

Cheers

Doesn't anyone use the Thermic for thermalling? Every video posted here is about slope flying.

Hi John,

I use my Thermic RES for thermaling and it does it quite well. I don't have any video to offer up. I am thinking of making a second fuselage for it so I can participate in ALES contests with it. It really is a good thermal sailplane.

We use all the AH gliders for thermaling, but its not easy to make a video of thermal flights.. then its just the take off and a small dot for a long time, and a landing.
Who want to see that.

My thermal duration PB with the Thermic 2,5 is 1 hour 26 min.

And they are great for thermaling, this is what they are made for....
low sink rate.
good glide.
And the best, they dont sink much even when flying pretty fast against the wind on a windy day, and this is here they beat all the build up gliders.

And this is also the thing that make them realy good on the slope too.

Cheers

Thermals is all my Thermic has seen so far. Its damn good at telling me when it finds lift! I have to drive pretty far to even find a slope. Sorry I don't have a video though.

Wayne,
I also thought the Thermic might be a good ALES plane.

I'm always wary of manufacturers claims for weight. What is the actual flying weight that owners are getting with the Thermic?

Stratigio's video was key in my decision to buy a Thermic. I love it.

Flying weight is anywhere between 25-30 oz. from what I've read in other threads. I'm hoping to hit around 26 with my build (this winter) if I'm lucky.

Mine flies @~30oz, including a heavy paint-job and a ballast tube (not provided).

P.S. Thanks for your kind words, guys.

There is no room in the Thermic fuselage for motor and batt.

The motor version is the Castor 2,5

Speedster, I have been giving some thought to setting up a new wing for my Thermic, one with flaps and ailerons. I noticed you elected to use Dymond D60 servos on your build, have they worked well for you? Any problems with holding power?

Hi Wayne
Some of the D 60 broke the gear and are now only on ailerons, Works ok until they broke
For the flaps + Flaps and ailerons in my Odyssey I now use the Hobbyking wing servos.
Works great
