Tomy Timer

I bought a small tomy style timer the other day. I modified it as per the mid 80's Aeromodeller article. Only problem is I don't have the next issue with the suggested D\T set ups. Is the rubber band tied to the D\T line there to take up slack, or does it allow for streching so the timer can be wound a few revolutions ?

there was also an article in feb/march 2001 Aviation Modeler international on the Tomy Timer mods , acordeing to march/part2 , the timer should be moded to give 1 revolution / minute, the timers need 6 turns to be fully wound but need about 1/2 turn still on at trip time to give reliable results, so DT can be up to about 5 1/2 mins. this requires the line to be extended to allow it to wrap around the arm/shaft up to 6 times, this is were the rubber band comes in alowing the band to stretch and not the line . also the band compensates for monolfiliment length changes with heat plus provideing a positive pull to the timer motor makeing it less likely to stop.
