60 sized hovercraft

hi this would be my second prodject if i can build a 60 size hover craft

i have an old mds 60 engine arrould i was wondering on dimentions for a craft or could i do any and hope for the best?

Several years ago, I built a ground-effect vehicle using a K&B .60 and 12x6 prop. I used anything at hand, as I was just tinkering. The duct was a cut-down 5 gallon bucket, and the base deck was 1/4 plywood, measuring 24x36. Skirt was cobbled up from polyester dress lining. Forward propulsion was two blast tubes, made of paper towel tubes. The beast weighed 7 pounds, and would pop off the ground at 1/4 throttle.

Using better materials, and a better design, I believe you could build an impressive HC.

I was bored, broke and used what was at hand. It was built upon the plans Roy Clough published in 1960, in Popular Mechanics. His was a tethered .020 ship. Needless to say, mine was rather bit larger...

I had a 60 size hovercraft kit back in the 70's. IIRC it was about 2 feet wide, and less than 4 feet long. The engine was mounted 30 to 45 degrees up from straight forward and half the prop thrust inflated the skirt and half went out through 5 parallel rudders.

There was a clamshell that came down and provided reverse thrust.

cool ill give it a go with those diamentions worst case it wont lift

Use Blue foam and/or Correx as the SPAD builders do and it will be strong light and waterproof correx is also fuel acid alkali and cold and fire ressistant.

Just close up the exposed ends of the corrugation tubes to stop water ingress.
