Oh bummer Rubio! So sorry to hear of the "incident" and I know what you mean about losing orientation -been there too! At least if she went down it was at Fermin where I believe other fine craft have also gone down.

Love the attitude... "Time to build,,," ... what's next?

Cheers,

Rob

always a sad sight... but to paraphrase Steve W.

"she'll be right mate"...

I'm quite impressed that "only" the nose got destroyed and the wings held on and so did the tail! At the rate you build you'll replace it quickly!

I know what you mean Greg, aside from the nose the rest of it looks to be in good shape. Is this where someone, okay I will do it, drops in the line, "it's just a scratch, she'll be flying again in no time"?

You could rebuild her Rubio...
Beg/borrow/steal/Pick up another hatch from ISRDan
Cut the shattered section off clean and rough up the inside and outside of a couple inches back on the cut sections
Build a nose out of foam a little undersized,
then layup several layers of glass over the foam
let it cure and then dig the foam out with a dremel shaft tool and brass brush.
Layup a few strands of tow and fiberglass on the inside to bridge the repair into the old fuse.
Refinish, repaint, rebalance
Right as rain

You can do it!

If you can get a new front section layed up, it could easily be grafted onto what you have left. Certainly a lot less work than making a new plane. Send Dan a PM, tell him to look at the pics and see what he will charge for a new front bit (and hatch). It looks like you need everything from about the CG forward.

Rubio,

Very sorry to hear about your Zero. I agree that from the pix it doesn't look too bad and you may have got away lucky. It would be cool to have Dan lay up just the front section and a new hatch for you. I hope he can do it.

Good luck,
Jim
