Hampshire County Radio Controllers Scale Fly-In

On Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24, the Hampshire County Radio Controllers will be hosting their annual scale radio control model airplane fly in. This event features miniature scale models of full size aircraft and represent both civilian and military airplanes from WWI and WWII. Classic and modern civilian aircraft are usually present as well, and there are usually several helicopters present. Pilots are expected from the local area as well as from several other New England states and possibly New York and New Jersey. As many as thirty to forty pilots have attended in the past.

Demonstrations of “3d” flying by both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are expected to take place around noon both days. 3d flying consists of very radical aerobatic maneuvers requiring exceptional skill to accomplish and the club is fortunate to have several pilots capable of putting on spectacular shows.

Attendance is free to the public with abundant free parking. Seating, and a food concession selling hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soft drinks and snow cones will be available. There will be raffles and a kids table to keep the little ones entertained while Dad (and Mom!) watch the airplanes.

The event takes place at the Hampshire County Radio Controllers field on Honey Pot Road, Hadley, MA. Check the club’s web site at www.hampshirecountyrc.org
