We went up yesterday morning early.
Gusts to 40 but the Northerly direction made for poor conditions.
Bruce flew a Bee and a Bird. I only flew my Bee. Didn't bother with a radar gun but I did take a few pics. BSP is no fun when conditions aren't good.

The islands just offshore from here have been blowing up to 50mph for days on end. This is a good sign for a windy fall. Time to charge up those batteries, do those repairs and get up on the hill. Maybe we will see some PB's and new records. Lots of energy about to blow through SoCal, could be epic!

Anything from the west with sun will be a cracker day. Any west forecst in general.

What do you plan on flying? That may dictate what sort of day you want

Look at jawbone on classicwunderground.com for Weldon. Its pretty good. When you are at the hill, look in the back of Alan's car. Doesn't get any better than that!

This is Alan's indicator. The feeling is that having the crosshairs at a little higher elevation than the actual flying spot agrees better with actual measurements.

Fall is usually all about the offshore Santa Anas.
Norco and Parker are the hot spots.

There has been no shortage of wind lately. Shortage of time to fly is another issue... Weldon is a great trip, wind doesn't have to be nuking to be all time.

I live in Palmdale and would like to check out you guys DSing sometime. How would I get directions to the hill? Even a Lat/Long to plug into my GPS would be helpful. Thanks!

Look up Weldon, CA on Google earth.

Here is a screen shot.

If you live in Palmdale, you're not too far from Acton, CA where Parker mountain is which would be another option for you to watch DSing.

Good luck.
