Big Solar Powered Flying Wing design

I am currently in the planing stages of a project of mine, A solar powered flying wing. The two atttachments show part of the plans as they are to this point.
If anyone has any suggestions (airfoil, modifications, changes, etc.) please feel free to edit the pictures and or describe them in a post.

The build will be somewhat lie the 14ft 4lb wing somewhere in the flying wing section of this forum (forgot the ling sorry)

-Ben

For a solar powered wing which I believe will be backed up by a lipo (who wouldn't eh?). You need more sweep to the wing and optimize the airfoil to be the most efficient.

I'm currently working on something for a UAV application where I am interested in duration and not so much speed.

So I should make it more pointy? eg. larger chord? or smaller tip chord (i dont want to do that one)?

For the airfoil, I was thinking maybe a mjz 1211? maybe a little modified to suit my needs.

haha, yes it will be backed by lipos

P.S. I too am more interested in duration than speed (UAV is a planned option for this aircraft)

by the way, what does the sweep do? -Never understood that...

Oh and also b4 I forget, the wing has a body i the center, which is about 40cm longer than then wing and that will hold the motor.
Propeller used will be 24"x12" folding prop.

I understand that sweep provides yaw stability.
If the wing turns a bit to the right, let's say, then the left side will project more area to the relative wind than the right and that will turn the wing back to the left.
Just my .02 worth.

That TE sweep will also help point the nose down instead of using more weight to do so.

Check out my monster. It's almost 2400 in^2, 8' wide and flies like a champ! Sounds like a great project! Good luck!

UPDATE:
As of now, the plane has bee growing ad growing on the plan.
Current specs: (not to be extended anymore)
Span: 750cm
center chord: 180cm
tip chord: 135cm
Area: 11.8 m^2
Estimated final weight: 10kg (22lb)
Estimated Wing loading: 8g/dm^2 (2.779 oz/ft^2)

featuring 2 hacker A30-10L outrunners geared to either 4:1 or 5:1 (gottta see my end voltage (either 14 or 17V) powering 2 24"x12" folding props

Estimated max thrust: (combined) 5800g at full power pulling 45A (solar array capable of 50A)

Also on board: 3500g Depron (3mm) with carbon reinforcements; 2real time cams on pan and tilt (main with OSD), the other one following a digicam-also on pan and tilt); 2 Lipo batteries and 1 nicd receiver pack (6V)

What is the minimum power per pound again? -rule of thumb always escapes me... was it somethig like 50W per pound? If I am correct on this one, then to drive this plane 1000W would be neccesary, whilst only 400-500 are available. that would give me 25W per pound. I think due to the low speeds and wing loading, it should be possible to go with way less than 25W per lb right?

I the attached PDF are all the numbvers Ive been throwing together (amperages, weights etc) and some explanations including a (unfinished) plan.

The Airfoil will be a KFm 3 with 12% (thats 200 and something mm )
Now, I will only need some more money, and I should be good to go. (i think about 2000 to 2500 bucks will be necessary )
Once I start, I will post pictures and a building blog

-Ben

P.S. Did I mention that accorfig to NASAs FoilSim this plane would be capable of flying over 49500ft????? lol anyone done that b4? kidding aside, do you have to file a flight plan for that????
