esc that can handle 4 servos
I have a dr foamie f15 that I tryed to run 4 hitec 55 servos on. The esc I had was a grayson hobbie 50 amp it said to run a seperate ubec and disconnect red wire from this esc which I did. But after installing ubec servos went crazy and cannot get any range. Uninstalled ubec and went back to 2 servos and is fine. I am running futaba 8u comp radio on 72 mhz has any one else had these problem and what did you do to solve it? I read somewhere that 2.4 is better becuase of this issue. Running 3s 2200 mah lipo.

How far is the BEC from the Rx? back when I ran 72mhz I had to keep the BEC as far from the receiver as possible or I lost range or had glitching(or both) another thing to try is a simple RF choke.
Any ESC with a 3amp switch mode built in BEC will be fine for your needs. |

Depending on the BEC 3 or 4 inches would have never been enough for my Futaba 9C's with any receiver I owned from futaba or hitec... try and move it away at least the length of the lead off the BEC(6-8 inches average) If you still have problems add the RF choke(not a bad idea anyway) and maybe even use a servo extension if you could get it farther away from the Rx than the BEC lead will allow.

You can use a Turnigy (or whatever they are calling them this week) with a 3A SWITCHING BEC. This is the same as a Hobbywing.

I had similar problems when I was on 35MHz (UK frequency). As shultz has said, 3 to 4 inches separation might not be enough to avoid interference, and I believe switching BECs are more likely to interfere than linear ones. My solution was to use opto ESCs and separate NiMh receiver packs, plus moving the ESC, motor, battery, and their leads as far away as possible from the receiver, servos, and their leads.
Since going over to 2.4GHz I've been able to replace all my NiMh receiver packs with stand-alone switching BECs, with no problems whatsoever. |
