70mm 2100kv motors...anyone balancing? 5s okay?

Hey guys...I have a large A10 that came with 2100kv motors and 6 blade fans on it...It was designed to run on 6s....Well...my 6s battery is gone and I have a pair of 5s batteries....also I am trying to get that jet wooosh sound so I bought a set of 12 blade fans and housings My model weighs 2.4kg.....will I be okay running the 5s with both motors?

Anyone balancing these units? I see Don has closed up shop

Sounds like a good match to me. Best to monitor the power with a watt meter to be sure you aren't pushing the ESCs too hard.

No. A friend let me try his Dynex but I found it a time consuming process compared to more traditional methods. Clocking the fan and then the spinner gives surprising results fairly quickly. Fine tuning with trial weights of duct tape then shows where extra weight is needed in the spinner.

By clocking you mean mark the shaft and the fan....mount your phone to it with a vibration sensing app...turn it 45degrees..do it again....that?

Yes and no. Mark a reference position on the fan and adapter or motor if out runner. Run the fan mounted at each of the clock positions to find the smoothest running position. You will notice it running smoother in one particular orientation (exactly opposite to the roughest running position). I use my fingertip to measure the vibration touching the exterior of the shroud. You don't need high power. Don't use high power until you get the fan as finely balanced as possible or it will rub and possibly fly apart.
