Need help on settings CC edge lite 100 esc w/Mega16/35/1
Hello fellow RCG speed freaks. I need some help with programming my ESC for the motor, prop & battery I'll be using.I've spent several hours reading posts ,which I have learned alot ,but dont recall where I read the programming setup for the system I have.
Mega 16/35/1 geared 5.2:1
RFM 15 x 16 blades
4s - 2250 65c-130c lipo
4-cell 800mah Eneloop RX pack
I will post this also in the Xplane forum as I would also like to get the throws for Ail,flaps & Elev.
I thank you in advance for any & all your expertise advise you can share.
Not sure what you mean by "read the programming setup."
Are you asking what settings to program the ESC to (PWM, timing, etc.), or how to read the values to program them where you want?
For settings that effect motor performance (PWM rate and timing), there may be optimal settings for your setup (which is maybe what you are asking for), but I just usually leave these alone, or tinker with them to fine-tune. Hopefully others with more expertise on your setup will answer, but I don't think timing and PWM rate are the difference between your motor running well and running poorly - maybe just optimally.
For high-performance planes like this, I usually disable cutoff voltage (so the ESC won't cut power during instances when the battery is greatly loaded during full-power) and disable current limiting or set it to insensitive.
With a gear-driven folder I would expect you would want a low motor start power to reduce stress on the prop, motor, gear box and firewall during start up. Probably also high brake with a gradual brake ramp. ???
If you were asking how to read the settings, you need the CastleLink device to connect your ESC to your PC and the program which you can download from the Castle Creations web site.

Throttle type: fixed endpoints
Throttle response: 5-6 (but when you have ramping programmed in the tx: 8-10)
Brake Strength: 100
Brake delay: no delay
Brake ramp: very fast
Cutoff voltage: 4.0
Voltage cutoff type: soft cutoff
Current Limiting: disabled
Current cutoff type: Soft Cutoff
Motor startpower: 30
Motor timing: 0 (not entirely sure, the Mega may prefer 5)
Power On Beep: Disabled
Auxiliary Wire: RPM (if you run a Unilog, which would be recommended)
Hope this helps,
