I am buying a 2s1p lipo pack, and it is my understanding that 2s1p means there are four cells total, 2 cells in series wired parallel to 2 more cells in series. Is this correct? I am being told by the vendor that 2s1p means the same as 2s (just 2 cells)...and I'm kind of wondering why a p is used if nothing is there in parallel?

In my opinion 1P should not be used and should be dropped. It causes confusion. 2S2P is what you are thinking of. Take the two numbers and multiply them together. That will give you the cell count. so 2S1P 2x1 = 2 cells. 2S2P 2x2 = 4 cells. Mike

I agree, saying 1p is a bit redundant and confusing to lipo noobs like myself. I asked a friend at work who is using 2s lipos and he also thought it mean four induvidual cells. Thanks a bunch!

Also IMO It should be dropped. It can cause more than confusion.

Awhile back, a fellow posted and asked whether it meant 2 lipos in series with one in parallel, a logical inference.

THAT would have caused fireworks, for sure!
