wood over glass, like the Proboat "classic"... sounds like a better plan than the "Venice".

Looks like a nice little boat in the video!

Not a bad looking RIVA knock off. The thing I noticed is that it is quite a bit smaller than the PROBOAT classic runabout which is 6 longer. Also I think that the Classic runabout could give it a run for its money in the speed department if not beat it flat out. I notice that they are running a 8.4 volt battery for main power in the new boat were as the classic runabout was running with a 7.2 volt battery. Some times a smaller boat carrying the same equipment and power on board will not be as fast due to the difference in displacement.

Still the boat does look good, and there is no building involved for the lazy type boaters out their.

I am really liking this boat. The size seems right - still large enough for a lake but more convenient to store and transport. I really like the visibility of the white hull bottom as it planes. Plus it has a battery and reverse. The Classic Runabout is about $100 more, plus add another $20 to $30 for the battery, plus the cost of a new ESC if you want reverse.

As far as speed goes, I think it looks pretty fast for the type of boat. If the Proboat video is anything to go by, the stock Classic Runabout is pretty slow. Is there a better video of the stock CR anywhere? I have seen some still shots on RCG that show it planing pretty good.

Right...time will tell. Not a very good track record for this company as far as runabouts is concerned.

Are the fiberglass runabout hulls from Proboat cracking and splitting?

I had some wood damage after very little use on "Past tense", but it was a good running boat.

I am still getting this one..

This thread deals with CR hull issues. However, note that at least one boat that had some problems with the wood was a used and abused boat.

Hummmm, there are a few (Proboat Classics) up here that run frequently and don't seem to be having the crack of doom problems found in the equipage boats...

If I were in the market for an RTR, id give this a shot based on what I have seen...

If the wood laminate on a fiberglass hull cracks it's only cosmetic. On the Equipage, it was structural failure that let water in and would sink your boat!
