Yippee!
AP Search and Rescue

My Funjet fell out of the sky two days ago. The most likely cause was interference caused by another flyer on my channel. After fighting thru extremely thick brush for two days, I decided to let another plane of mine do the grunt work.

Flying over brush so thick, it has swallowed whole (model) airplanes without a trace, I took dozens of photos, hoping for just a pixel of fluorescent yellow or orange, which could only be the plane in question. The first sortie yielded nothing whatsoever. On the second flight I widened my area, and bingo! The plane had crashed much farther from the field than I thought, but with the photo evidence, I walked straight to it and recovered every piece. The funjet has been rebuilt, and although it isn't quite as pretty anymore, it will fly again.

Good job! Glad you found it!

I've been to that field as a spectator. Pretty awesome field.

It was laying in an open spot! Way to go! I've found two lost planes and it was quite a good feeling.

Probably 200 or so. When I flip the gear switch the camera begins taking photos at about 1 per second if I don't flip it back.

2 for 2!

A friend told me about another plane lost 100 yards from the runway, and I dispatched the Search and Rescue Twinstar. I almost had to recover the recovery plane when I lost orientation at one point, but she made it home with the valuable recon.

The best part is.. searching for your plane this way was probably fun. Muchj more then hiking through thick brush.

I was pointed to this thread by "hilbilly".

The 3 photos below are build pics of my Contest F-35. It is a 32"WS, 90 mm EDF model. It went down during a speed contest at Bennett Field on Oct 24,09
I have offered a $200 reward for its retrieval. We searched and searched, for many hours without luck. I live in the LA area.
Below is the thread related to the race which contains more info. I will also post a video showing the jet when it went in beyond the first treeline. the video was taken from a viewpoint about 3/4 towards of the way to the east end of the runway.
I will also post a web album of aerial photos that were taken by hilbilly over the suspected crash site. the jet may be due north of the small brick bldg within the walled area.
The entire underside of the jet is gunship grey with a single red reflective strip down the center.
If you can locate or assist in locating it. I would greatly appreciate it. Please post or PM me regarding this, anytime.

Thanks, Gary

Found it!

I searched the area the day before on foot, and I probably walked right by it. It's a good thing it crashed in the fluff, it probably would not have been visible in the woods. Sadly, it didn't hit one of the real thick and soft patches either.

It crashed farther west than the area previously searched. I included a few reference photos, you can get an idea of how thick the fluff is, and that is nothing compared to the woods.
