The Buidling Clinic is ALL about building the XP-4 and Raptr, though the skills I teach can be applied to most HLG kits. Highly detailed info on all aspects of assembly.

More info is here:http://radiocarbonart.com/Pages/buildclinicmain.html
There is a short online trailer clip at that link.

Theres a few minutes of flying and launching at the end.

I've decided to totally rewrite the software from scratch so that it more closely resembles our FlightView software. Will probably be a winter project.

I also wonder if you know how to get ahold of the RAM2 gods so
that I might be blessed with one? I've tried prayer and Didn't get any god results.
Gee, we make a darn fine altimeter but I wouldn't call us Gods.

Denny and Randy must be in cahoots... The fuselage area directly over the CG is a PERFECT fit for the RAM2. Highly recommend using it to fine tune your launches. I leave a 3" servo lead from the receiver to the center section of the XP so it is very easy to drop the RAM in whenever I want to document a flying session...

Thanks for the comments Leon.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I can now ship the RAM2L even though it's not "officially" on the website yet. On the L version, the 12" lead is replaced with a connector so that a standard battery can plug onto it for power.

What's nice is, the little E-Tech 80mAh LiPo cell weighs about as much as the 12" lead so the total package of altimeter and battery only weighs a fraction of a gram more than the original RAM2. And the 80mAh cell runs it for about 4 hours.

As shown below, it makes for an easy installation since it is totally self contained and you don't have to feed any wires to the rx. It also makes it very simple to swap the altimeter between planes.

Same as the RAM2, $99. I also have the little LiPo cells in stock now. They're $13 with connector installed as shown in the picture.

Ram2

I am interested in the product.
First, is it still ok to power it using the RX pack?
What is the purpose of such a device for a DLG? I could only see it useful for launch height. And if you don't have a laptop handy during flying you can't tell much after getting back home after 3 or 4 hours of flying and try to remember what took place during a certain flight of that day..
Could some please explain to me the need for this in a DLG?

Thank You.

Max

I'd like to borrow one for an afternoon, just to check my launch heights.

XP 4.5 building plans?

Well I started the build on the xp4.5 my first dlg. I did not get a set of plans with the kit? Huh! I tried looking in the obvious places and asking in the next obvious place ...here?
I also picked up Pauls DVD's on the dlg builds and his pro-launch set (SUSA). I viewed the build thus far very helpful I have 12 hours for cure on the wing and the fuse is next.
Would like to visit the plans if possible to compare contrast with the dvd. The pushrod housings on the fuse are not glued on the boom dvd says they are supposed to be...no biggie just would like to have a check see would hate to muck things up going well this far . I will phone Denny in am if necessary...

Any insight on the build plans?

Thanks Alan

BTW: Paul your dvd is awesome in every respect. Looking forward to viewing the Pro Launch Set! Are you planning to join Bob at the AMA Show comming up in Ontario?

Glad you enjoyed the Building Clinic DVDs Alan!
The XP instructions are on Denny's site to down load. I followed the instructions loosly and of course added my 2 cents in during the build. There are a few things in Denny's instructions that are not all that clear, but you can better learn the steps by watching the DVD.

I will try to make Ontario this year as a wicked cold grounded me last year.

plans?

Here's the link to the XP-4 build instructions.

Take your time and keep it light, especially in the tail.

Denny's instruction manual is fairly complete and has some good pictures. I think I have it memorized. With the manual and the DVd you should be set. There are a couple of XP 4 build threads out there (and here on RC Groups) that add some detail and personal techniques of various stages.

The pushrods do not come glued to the boom so that you can do final proper alignment when you mount the tail surfaces. Very simple, scuff boom and use thin CA when ready.
The instructions being web based allows use of more pics, etc. If you have any more questions just e-mail or call.
