As far as 4S testing, I got the following on a 4S1800 25C lipo

Wicked 5400 was 600 watts them settled to 38 amps and 530 watts
Wicked 6000 was ~700 watts and 49 amps but kept hitting LVC as the lipo could not put the juice out!

Personally I like the 6000KV on 3S and a 3S1800 mah lipo. I am going to retrofit my F16 with the 6000KV as if I am hitting 85 mph on the 5400 on a 3S1300 I should get over 90mph with the 6000KV on a 3S 1800 with an extra 100 watts

Don, I have this motor and was wondering if it will fit in your fan and if so, how many amps will it draw from a 3s1300 pack which is rated for 20C. what size speed control would I need. I installed this in a 64mm EDF I had and it puffed up the above mentioned pack. I don't think the ESC which was a 30A could handle the RPM since the plane did just as you described and seemed like a real dog when I tried to fly it.
I have a one of the small jets on the way, the AMX and if this motor will work as a drop in for the Wemotec fan, the I woldn't hesitate ordering the fan and a new ESC. Also, you website shows the fans out of stock. Any idea when they will be in stock?

Thanks.

I hope to be able to get more wemotec fans soon no eta yet as I have not heard back form the factory. As far as the nitroplanes motor goes, I do not sell those motors so I no idea on their performance and or suitability.

I used this on 4s 30C 1600mah and 1300mah lipos in the Wemo fan --- its a BRUTE no doubt... 500++ watts, 39amps in the WEMO. 2.5minutes flight time, can't go 100% throttle 100% of the flight. F16 was close to 100mph with exhaust at 38mm.

I think the jet would be better off for thrust with the 4800kv of the same motor and in the 28mm motor-can diameter version.. the 5000kv is a 26mm motor can.

Hi all, just subscribing on the thread. I got my AMX today, and I will go for the Wemo 6000 combo, I just want to fly her for a couple packs stock first.

That would be my choice for the AMX as well.

The Don, have you got a good cg point for the AMX? In the manual it says 36mm from inner leading edge, but it seems a little off. It is also somewhat difficult to get that measurement right since the wing are leaning backwards.

Hi all, maidened my AMX today completely stock but with a 30C 1050Mah lipo. She flew pretty good with only 140-150 watts, but she had a bad tendency to want to climb pretty steep between 80-100% throttle. I dont know if something is wrong with the fan/duct that make her want to climb. Have anyone else experienced this???

Yea it is a hard way to measure but that is where I set my CG.

Wow. I'm confused on whether to get the Wicked 4800-5400 and run on 4s or just go with the 6000 and run on 3s...

Don, what kind of thrust are you getting with the Wemotec fan and different motor/battery setups? Are you getting over 1:1 thrust for performing vertical climbs or is the added power more increasing the top speed?

With the reduced nozzle diameter the 5400 will give a little over 1:1 thrust to weight as it is a speed setup. If you leave the exit nozzle bigger you will get even more thrust (over 1:1) and less top speed. If you use the Wicked 6000KV then you get over 1:1 with the reduced nozzle

I'd say that the weight of the lipo you chose to use also plays a big factor into determining if one of these lightweight 50mm jets gets over 1.1 thrust...

Big difference in weight between a 850mah and 1800mah 25c batt on 3 or 4s.

And these comments apply with the 3-cell LiPo battery? I somehow understood from this thread's history that the Wicked 4800kv motor is the most powerfull one which still can handle 4-cell's higher voltage.
