The BFG 1600 is a 1.6 meter electric glider designed for fun. The all EPO airframe is extremely tough, perfect for flying at those less than perfect slope sites where landing can be an issue. Flying from the slope isn't a requirement since the BFG 1600 has two power options, a motor in the nose with a folding propeller, or a pylon mounted motor with standard propeller. If powered flight isn't your thing, slip on the magnetically secured nose cone and run as a pure sailplane. With its light weight, the BFG 1600 will find those small thermals and keep you entertained for hours.

We've designed the BFG 1600 with optional flaps if you want that option. With the included hardware, and adding two of your own 9g servos, adding them is a breeze. Assembly and transport of the BFG is quite easy thanks in part to the two piece plug-in wings, and bolt on horizontal tail. Since the model is plug and fly right out of the box, all you need to do is some basic final assembly, program your radio and fly!

Powered by a small 4S 14.8V 2500mAh Lipoly battery, the BFG climbs to altitude quickly where the propeller folds back upon throttling down for extended soaring sessions.

Drop the flaps and the BFG really slows down, which is very useful when bringing it in for short field landings. Assembly and transport of the BFG is quite easy thanks in part to the two piece plug-in wings, and bolt on horizontal tail. At roughly $90 PNF for the 1600 BFG I would opt for a Phoenix 1600 ARF for around $45. There is nothing that can take abuse like the plastic fuse of the Phoenix.

The 2600 is listed for roughly $200 PNF. Pretty steep for an EPO glider. Would like to see an ARF version which I'm sure will come soon.

Nice gliders. The BFG 2600 is the exact same as the Robbe Arcus Sport 2.6 and the ArtTech Diamond 2500. I have the Arcus Sport and it flys great. Don't think there will be a ARF version, as both others also come as BNF.

Thanks for the info. Do you think / know if the parts used inside the HK version are the same as the Robbe Arcus or did they use their own parts?
I love big gliders and if I had the room in my den I'd love a 2.6m bird. The phoenix 2000 is already big for me to handle here.

I'll look into the Arcus some more.

Well the Arcus has a Robbe motor and ESC, for the rest (the complete airframe and servo's etc) it looks like they all come from the same factory.

Robbe motors are know to be good, but the Arcus retailprice is 298,- Euro / $400,- US

It does take up a lot of space for storage, comes in a HUGE box.

I like the 1600mm version with the shoulder mounted prop (motor pod).
Can Probably take the nose motor out and put a larger 3s Lipo (1800mah).

I just read the HK info on it and its not clear if it has two motors...one in pod and one in nose or how power gets from pod to ESC

Ordered.

Inside area of nose looks huge.

Gonna build this into an FPV glider. Have been using a motionrc Vroc for afPV duty and have limited room with cog issues.

Should be able to get much of the gear into the front and get decent rx and video tx seperation.

This will be my last foamy glider before I jump to a fiberglass/balsa 3meter build.

It is. Here's a pic of mine with a large 3300 3S, still plenty of space around it.



You could use the whole platform for electronics and put a lipo on top. The canopy itself is also huge and has plenty of space for equipement.

B.t.w. this thread should at least be splitted, it's not a good idea to have both the 1600 and 2600 models in one place.

Guys..


A quick question about suitable batteries for the BFG 2600...

This glider includes a 700KV motor.

How do you think it will perform with a high C rated 3s pack as opposed to a 4s pack.

I have plenty of high quality 3300mAh 3s 40C batteries I'd like to try to use with this glider.

TIA for any thoughts.

This looks like a good glider at what appears to be a good price. I am looking for an e-glider foanie fo step up to somthing bigger, does a foamie glide / thermal ok??

Depends on what you expect out of "ok", but a typical sport foamie can ride thermals for as long as your talent can keep them cored. No promises if you fall out of the thermal though.
