If this radio is FrSky, Spektrum DSMX, and Futaba FASST compatible out of the box, it'll be the one Tx to rule them all!

Let's just hope we can find a module for walkera/wltoys mini-quads... then it'll rule them all

for WLToys you can use the original FLySKy module
its compatible

sadly FrSky made a bad move using a Futaba slot for the module
if they has used a JR one, anyone who needs to use a futaba module could use an adapter
but not the reverse thing, as a Futaba module fits inside a JR Slot.

The KST radio has a Futaba module yes... But so far FrSky always said they would be using JR modules. They probably replaced the back, but again nobody's sure yet.

Sadly that's incorrect; from post 1...

FrSky coming long range system module and TF module are also supported as external module. TF module is coming Frsky FASST compatible telemetry module.

Post 1 was written long ago, when FrSky were only planning one radio, the X12D.
Since then they have confirmed they would be using JR modules at least for the X12D. No info on the X9D... but I hope they don't do the stupidity of mixing both.

If the X9D really has a Futaba slot, then they lose me here. I have 6 different JR-type modules.

Cant see how it could be totally compatible for JR & Futaba, they may make the module suit both but JR and Futaba have other differences like channel allocation

Channel allocation is in radio, not in receiver.
With new open softwares the channel allocation lost the meaning, you can place throttle on channel 8, if you like !

JR slot for all FrSky radios, with new powerful JR type module - XJT (we called it D16 module before).

Here are some fresh close-up photos for you.

Please give us the X12D instead!

I'm still salivating over the rendering posted earlier. Looks like the perfect radio.

Looks great, case is identical to my JR 9XII (9303) apart from the scroll wheel, so will the new module be 9ch rather than 8ch?
It is the one thing stopping me changing over some of my other models that are on 35mhz as I need the full 9ch's
