Help!
Which P-51 Mustang (Balsa) Is This???

Hi,

I just bought an electric P-51 at an auction this last weekend but there was no info on it. I want to know the manufacturer so I can get specs for it. I took a few photos. Sorry they are not the best quality. The plane is made out of balsa and plywood. The wingspan from end to end is 37" and from end of rudder to tip of fuselage is approximately 30". I have to screw the wing on with a nylon bolt on the bottom of the wing.

I really dont know how else to explain it. I just want to know who makes it because I need to find out the proper cog and other specs.

If you have any idea or suggestions, please let me know, thank you ;o)

House of Balsa maybe?

The dimensions are close, anyway.

Hi,

Good suggestion but the fuselage is too different. This plane has a square fuselage. The one on the website is curved and more realistic. The dimentions are very close though, you are right

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again

Yeah, maybe..hard to tell from their pic. However my friend had the larger HOB P-51, and it was very boxy, like yours (especially the belly scoop). That's why HOB was my first thought.

Yea you could be right. Im still not sure but Im open to other suggestions. Otherwise, would someone help me by suggesting universal specs? I need to know where the cog would be, and what rate measurements I should have on a plane like this. Thank you again!!! ;o)

Looks like and old Mark's Models Fun P-51. Is the wing open structure or sheeted? I built a few of these back in the day and they flew very well, they were light and easy to build but the wing would flex a bit so I sheeted the bottom of the wing with poster board and that fixed the flexing

Hi,

I believe its open structure...meaning I can see the ribs and its coated with monocote or something similar.

So lets say this is a Marks Models. Would you be able to give me an idea of where the COG may be?

Thank you

Sorry no. It was years ago. I would like to have one NIB if anyone has one. IF it is a Marks, keep the speed down and everything is fine, get too fast and the wing can warp and the plane will do some very amazing uncommanded manuvers

Here's the planes I had, sorry it was a JEMCO Fun Scale p-51,
If anyone has one let me know.

I don't know who makes yours but I can tell you that it's not the Mountain Models kit.
