Spoiler alert, very cool, but still at mock up stage.
All you F5D-ers better toss your gear drives & saw tooths. they are so 'yesterday'. Dual motor Contras are the new rage

That is awesome. I also like the fact that someone has finally credited the Model Aircraft Community for advancing this technology because it's very true. I've been building electric skateboards and bikes for a few years and it's amazing how much RC gear has pushed those along as well. These wheels are basically outrunners built into the hub, but purpose built with proper bearings and (90kv) the urethane has inner splines to keep from spinning off. Will be running 10S but you can go to 12S with these motors/VESCs.

Hmmm, 7 grand almost seems like a typo or a scam. Sucker born every minute. Shouldn't cost more than $600-800 for DIY set up that goes ballistic. Or, $1500 for the top of the line pre-built board with good LiFe cells. I already have lipos, chargers, and motor/esc knowledge so it's really pretty simple aside from proper assembly. Here are a couple good links to fuel your thirst:

High quality kits and pre-built boards.

Single drive for flat riding, under 180 lbs (80kg) rider on 6S is fun and plenty fast, dual drive for big hills and speed 10-12S.

Well I finally got my maiden voyage made with the E-board and it's absolutely amazing. The power is perfect, smooth, and very quiet. The best part of it all is the braking system. Having dual drive motors means double the braking power so when you are doing 20mph (32kph) it's nice knowing you can stop in a few seconds. And all of these parameters are programmable in the VESC controller via USB and GUI interface... pretty powerful open source piece of hardware/software. I'm barely scratching the surface of what it can do.

15S and 37mph. Needs more Ah, but a fun thing. 24Ah makes for 20miles at almost WOT

Nice rides I built a drift trike last year, really fun. All my friends asked why I built one, then they go for a ride and asked if I could help them build one too! 800 watts on 8S.
