A micro DH Venom

I put a build log for this in the Scratch build section but perhaps it would have been more relevant here.
The object was to make a true scale EDF but one retaining scale size inlets and exhaust. Almost by definition this was going to result in a relatively large airframe for the size of its EDF which in turn meant it would have to be very light.
With this objective in mind the Venom is actually a better original then the Vampire as it used a bigger jet engine (the Ghost) that required larger ducts than the Goblin.
As out an out speed was not an objective there was some advantage to be gained by running the 40 mm fan at is most efficient speed rather than trying to obtain the maximum thrust. In this respect the cheap all plastic AEO fans are surprisingly good.
So here it is.

Description:
32" span it weighs 6.7 oz with a 950mAh 2s.
Built up entirely from 2mm Depron as a true stressed skin monocoque. There is nothing else used in the airframe, even the booms. The wing has a scale symmetrical section.
It is flown 3ch 'bank and yank' and is easy to hand launch.
At full power it only uses 70W and it cruises very nicely on quite a bit less so the flight duration can be as long as 8 minutes, although 5 minutes seems quite long enough!

Nice job on that one Q! Looks really scale too. I know your using a 40 for this one. Have you ever run a single cell aeo 30 in any of your planes?

Not a single cell but my EE Canberra uses two AEO 30 mm running on a 950mAh 2s.

Description:
Built following the same principles as the Venom with scale inlets and exhausts (the jet pipe is just 22 mm diameter!). It has the same 32" span but nearly twice the wing area. All 2mm Depron it actually uses a tissue covering for the outer wing panels.
Obviously not as electrically efficient as the Venom but after a bit of adjustment it now flies very nicely.
Depron Canberra 10 Feb 15 (3 min 32 sec)

And if anything it glides even better than does the Venom!
