Looks like the Yamaha is sold - DW made a deal with the gentleman selling the boat. He will have it shipped to his Mom's home here in the States to have her hold it until he returns home from his time in Singapore.
Congrats all around!!

Ok, so I am in the process of getting the Yamaha from the classified section. As Boomer mentioned above, I won't get to play with her until I make it back to the US from doing some time abroad. That's not bad because it gives me the time to start picking up a few things. The biggest one being the crew. If anyone has a lead on a set, please keep me in mind.

Thanks in advance.

Thought you Yamaha fans might be interested in learning about a very interesting upgraded Yamaha. To save time I am providing a link to the thread on this very imaginative project - goes back to 2007!

There is a lot of very good information on this thread and for you Yamaha owner's it should be of interest. Daniel was way ahead of the curve on this project. Worth a visit!

Yamahas in WIND!

http://youtu.be/EEdfbsM_N-I?list=UUH...uZR8wKRq_XADtQ

It was blowing a good 20 mhp with gusts up to 35 mph.

Robert was doing his best to film and sail at the same time.

Great fun for about 2 hours, then disaster!!!!!!!!!!

See end of vid!

Fortunately, there was no damage.

Curious - What caused the mast fail? Did the shrouds let go? At those wind speeds a set of smaller sails might be in order. I have sailed my Yamaha in 20 mph maybe a tad higher without any damages. I do have SS 1 x 7 strand 30lb. test leader for my shrouds and backstay which provide a very stable mast set up. So far so good! You guys were really having a good time in those conditions!!

The pictures reminded me his rigging on his boat is same as mine. If those little locking nuts are not tightened the rigging screws seem to find a way to loosen themselves at the least opportune times. Glad there was no real damage! Especially since parts are like hens teeth to find

There was absolutely no damage at all...just had to re-do one of the lower shrouds as a crimp let go when the mast came down.

He had a MAJOR horseshoe up his butt that day!

I guess. Very fortunate that something didn't break. Gusting to 35 mph is some serious sailing conditions for sure.

I have always felt the Yamaha's do exceptionally well in heavy conditions. The video confirms my feelings for sure. I think the wider beam gives the boats added stability in those conditions. I bet Mr. Carr could "gin up" a set of heavy weather sails for the Yamaha. Be fun to see how they'd to properly fit for those kinds of conditions.

Manual

Hi everyone,

Great thread - Just got hold of a Round the World Yamaha complete with crew, but sadly no manual.

Does anyone know of a link to a manual please?

I've started re-rigging her, but will need to fix/sort a couple of broken spreaders. I'll be checking out the threads for any mods that people think are worthwhile?

From what I've read so far, there's some really good suggestions here.

Cheers
