Fort Worth Thunderbirds Electric Fly In, Benbrook, TX: Nov 7, 2009
Come fly with us on Nov 7. Official hours are 9am to 5pm.
This date fits nicely into the calender space between BEST in early Oct. and the 114th Toys for Tots event in early Dec.
Full AMA required, this is an AMA sanctioned event. (our lease prevents the use of a Park Pilot membership...sorry)
We are going for minimal rules and hassle and maximum relaxed fun and lots of flying.
The landing fee is $15.00 and the pilots lunch is included. There will be a great raffle!
Event supporters and sponsors, so far (more joining daily!):

Some club members are also donating additional new items to the raffle, to help raise money to cover the costs of moving our flying field.

I hope to see all the usual suspects there, as well as any interested electric flyer withing driving distance!
This will still be at our great lakeside location, same as last year, as the new field south of Lake Benbrook is running behind in construction, so THIS will be one of the last events held at our beautiful flying field on the western shore of Lake Benbrook in Dutch Branch park. Picture below. Next year our field will be moving to a new site at the southern end of the lake (really!).
Don't miss it!
For those of you visiting Thunderbird Field for the first time:
There is controlled access to Dutch Branch Park, where our field is located. At the gate, simply show your AMA card to the attendant and tell them you are here for the fly in at the model field.
They will give you a free pass that you tape to your windshield that allows access to the flying field area of the park.
Here is a link to last years event thread, with lots of great photos. Photos start on post number 56.

Uploaded the event flyer to the first post.
I will bring flyers along to DEAF and to BEST. We will have flyers at most of the local DFW hobby shops soon.
Feel free to download a copy for your local hobby shop and post it there, as well!

Our runway is 450 feet of concrete with smooth overruns into the grass. We have a lot of turbine jet operations there.
Camping at the field itself is not actually allowed by the Army Corps of Engineers, our landlords. We have free access to the park area without a fee for model flying, but they want you to rent one of the Benbrook campsites to camp there.
If you need hookups, the Holiday Park campsites are the closest to the flying field, I believe:

The park rangers are pretty nice, but we wouldn't wanna get them all riled up..! hahahah
I know that we have left empty RV's there overnight before though..it is a good way to get a good parking spot! hahahah
