Hi gang,
I want to share my experience here to finalize a transmitter for use with receivers of other systems. You will need:
- RF module system you want;
- 2 position switch;
- SMA antenna connector with pig-tail;
- step-up voltage regulator;
- a bit of wires;
- double-sided foam adhesive tape;
-patience.
The principle is simple - switch the power supply from one module to another. The transmitter body is very narrow, but one module can be set inside.
So, in order:
1. It is necessary to break the chain of power supply of the original RF module. I decided to unsolder it from the board and lift it on short legs - all pads, except 3.3V.

2. The board has modulator output - PPM pad from which to take the signal for our add-on module. Solder wires on the board to the ground, PPM, 3.3V and Vin on module.

3. Normally all RF modules are powered from 5V, so we need to step-up regulator. How to connect everything together - shown in the diagram.

Space inside the body is small, so it's best to use the mini switch.
4. Make a hole for the antenna and switch, place the module and step-up regulator on double sided tape inside of the case on the back.

5. Putting everything together and enjoy ...
An external antenna can be attached directly to the connector or through the L-shaped adapter.

During operation encountered a problem - it is impossible to completely disconnect the original module. Thus or work only original module or both at the same time. This naturally faster battery drain. Pinout of original module present here, may be somebody can prompts how to completely eliminate its activity.

Very cool. Didn't think someone would be moding so quickly. Same concept as the Deviation fw upgrade for the Walkera Devo txs.

Didn't expected a 2015 radio still feature PPM... if this stream, supposedly 10 channels, can be called PPM

Romushok, thanks for sharing. One problem I see, you are still feeding the i10 module with 3.3v when enabling the Corona module. Be carefull as you are powering the i10 RF module from one of the i/o or control lines from the micro. You can damage the micro if the RF module pulls to much current when you disable the 3.3v going to the i10 module. You can correct this problem with a tri-state or possibly a couple of FETs. Also an RF switch (part# AS215-92LF, under 1 dollar) will allow you to use one antenna for both RF modules and is simple to hook up. I am in the process of converting a i10 to Hitec. I was not going to keep the i10 module in the radio but now I'm thinking about it. Ether way I will post my results and designs when completed. Thanks for sharing and great first hack on the i10. Never stop hacking, it's now part of the hobby.

Derek

A little update. I've replace old Corona module to Corona V2 DSSS and arrange it so that now I can access to bind button and LED.
Removed all unnecessary from module to reduce the thikness.
