JR XG11 Owner's Thread

I figured I'd start a thread where users can share tips and tricks.

The UPS guy dropped it off about 20 minutes ago. You can see in the pics that it's a beefy radio compared to the DX8. I included a picture comparing the AR8000 to the the RG1131B. Here are some pics:

ETA: If someone was curious as to what size a Pelican case they would need for the XG11, the 1450 is what you're looking for. I bought the 1450 and I also bought the 1550 to use a double case for days I'm taking the XG11 and DX8. I have the Spektrum single aircraft transmitter case from HH. The foam gets torn pretty easy and it's not as durable as a Pelican; granted the Pelican is more. I will continue to use the Spektrum case until I need to replace it with a 1450.

The roller on my new XG11 has a good bit of play in both direcctions of rotation and makes the roller feel soft in use rather than crisp. I don't remember this being the case on past JR radios. Am I alone or is this part of the package.

Mine definitely has a crisp feel with no play in the roller.

Based on the two different responses I am guessing that both conditions may be the reality. The back and forth slop sure makes a difference in the tactile feel/feedback of the roller. It would sure be nice to hear from more folks about their respective XG11 and then to hear from JR about what it is suppose to be. Does anyone know of a JR team member that could act as an ombudsman on this issue? Thanks

That pretty much describes how mine is also.

I received my XG11 yesterday. The roller has the same "slop" as my trusty older 11X radio. I never had an issue scrolling the menu with the roller.

I was able to insert my SD card from the 11X into the XG11. I had no problem downloading the models I plan to fly on the XG11. Today i'll need to check sub-trims and make final set-ups on the XG11.

I did notice the XG11 had more of a light gun metal color as compared to the 11X chrome front plate.

Mine did come in the Mode 2 configuration. I did install the throttle ratchet and the travel limiters. It was easy to recalibrate all of the gimble movements. The manual has good instructions. It is much better than the 11X manual.

Binding is different, but easy. Just follow the instructions in the manual.

What is the breakdown of switch types on the transmitter? How many are 2 way, 3 way, and spring loaded? I did not see this information in the manual.

The play this roller has its completely normal, and its the same feeling that my previous jr 11x has.. As everybody knows its based on the same platform as the 11x, so no surprises here, therefore its an assurance that everything in this transmitter model was tested before...
Mine is working superb. 3 months with it and everything ok.. I am very happy with it...

I have a question to everyone else with the xg11 sold by HH (as mine was bought overseas at Rc711.com and its a native mode 1 converted to mode 2 by myself), how is the switch layout??, I mean the distribution of it, ie. trainer in the back left, rudder dual rate, t hold switch etc...

Thanks...

My XG11 came as mode 2 from HH. The rudder dual rate switch is on the left hand side and the snap (spring loaded) and gear switches are on the right hand side. The elevator, aileron, flap and Aux 2 switch locations are the same location as the 11X. So far I am completely pleased with the quality of the XG11. When I used the 11X SD card to download some models to the XG11, all went fine. Some of the sub trims had to be adjusted. I did notice the mix functions in the XG11 program differently. The manual is much better and after a bit of trial and error, I got my mixes the same. In the air my Vanquish pattern plane felt the same.

I've got my red sticks extended full out. Is there a replacement stick that can give me and extra 6 to 10 mm (.25" to .375"in length?

Since this is the "official" thread for this radio (I really hate people labeling things like that since it really isn't official in any way) can you compare it to other radios such as a 9503 or DX-18 as far as features, gimble spacing, switch placement, weight, programing, and both retail and on the street pricing.

It's official in the sense that's its the first thread since it's been available. No need in having numerous threads on the same radio. Further, you can find weight and most of the comparisons by going online and taking a quick gander at the manuals. I know, that requires some effort, but it does provide results! :-)

After some thumbing time with my XG11, I have a very small amount of play with my roller.
