Finally found OVAL grommets..
Thought this needed sharing with the brethren..............
Found these at Hobby Lobby.....in the crafty dept.
"Traditions" Item# 615070
They are potmetal, and chrome plated. As you can see, the chrome easily sands off (in the pics, the one on the right is sanded)
On the Darby, the pic looks wonky because the paint on them is still wet.
They dried to perfection.
I sanded them, cyano'd them on to the bulwark, and then used a dremel
to pierce and ream out the fiberglass.

Why not make your own?
Using jewelry technique below:
First: shape dowel into required oval form, only need a few inches for ring winding
wrap wire; cheap solid bare wire: copper, nickel silver or even plastic softened in hot water
take off of dowel, cut oval links with cutting pliers, align links, flatten with hammer?
follow Steve's procedure: glue, rout, paint. Voila!
Use smaller gauge and paint with thick plastic rubber coating material.
Lots of possibilities, get creative like the rivet makers on Springer thread.
