Super scale ASW 20 (66%)

Hi there,

I am currently developing a super scale ASW 20 66% scale and I will share the building process with you.

I created a XFLR 5 model to assess the aerodynamic performance and these are the final results:

-HQ/W 2,5 15% root airfoil
-HQ/W 2,5 11% tip airfoil
-Washout: 1.5
-Longitudinal V: 2
-Mass target: 40kg

-Max glide ratio : 37 (without flaps)
-Min sink: 0.36 m/s (without flaps)

I intend to build the fuselage using the XPS frames and planking technique. (Reference : http://www.rckozmodrom.com/RcModely/Blanik.htm)

Next steps:
- Wing Spar;
- Airbrakes ;
- Retract wheel mechanism;
-...

Cheers!!
Renato

Clearly it's not big enough, 68% is in vogue now. WOW!

I think you posted three days early by mistake- April 1st would have been a good date.
Wow- its certainly possible but... And how big is your vehicle. Serious truck needed or glider trailer.
Best of luck if you decide to go ahead.

Lolol

The fuselage will split in half and I will do the same with the each half-wing, so it shouldn't be be too difficult to transport

Cheers!

Have you calculated an AUW? What will tug this up?

Hi David,

The AUW should be around 40kg.

I believe that we can tug this thing with a 120-150cc engine attached to something

I am currently cleaning the workbench and I should start the fuselage soon.

Cheers
