Quick Fix For Losi Micros Range!!!

I discover that by removing the plastic cover to the battery compartment and placing a traxxas 2.4ghz chip without the plastic outside in the new hole, you can get 1/4 mile of range (excessive but on chop shop ebay these systems go for $30 new) and i can still fit a 500 mah 2s lipo under there and everything else!

Are you talking about replacing the radio entirely? What does chip mean? Chip is too generic and not the correct term I think. Are you talking about the Receiver? Then it's not a fix, it's a replacement.

by fix i meant a fix to the problem of small range. the receiver chip. and yes the entire radio system. traxxas 2.4ghz whoops the losi 27mhz am and is way cheaper than the 2.4 systems you traditionally would get

You can't just replace the receiver alone... the losi micro's come with a combined recevier/esc, plus the servo is a 5 wire servo, not 3 wire.

To run the traxxas receiver you need a new ESC, and 3 wire servo as well.

Yep, this is my dilemma. I want to upgrade the radio, but the stock brushless setup is fast enough. After playing with my Turnigy 1/18 scale stadium truck witth a brushless setup I'm not so convinced that faster is better after flipping on every rock! but better control is.

then the title is misleading to a new owner as losi makes a drop in conversion that would be easier than this . theres nothing quick about replacing all of the electronics . good thought but has already been addressed .

If you want better range, don't buy Losi. Their products suck. I bought the Micro Rally a year or two back. Ended up more than doubling my investment for a decent brushless motor, new servo, new esc, new radio, and new receiver. Honestly, their QC is really bad, you'll be further ahead to order a car from Hobbyking with a "cheap" 2.4 setup. Losi is really like seven years in the past in terms of technology they put in their cars, unfortunately, their prices are in the present.

^^ The old AM stuff maybe, but have you looked at their brushless micro lineup, or their race grade 1/0th scale stuff? Definitely top of the line race products and the brushless/2.4ghz micro stuff is much better too.

To say all Losi stuff sucks because of one low end product is a really bad idea... I've raced many different stadium trucks over the years, but always buy Losi because of well they handle and how easy they are to set up.
